PARENTS SUPPORTING PARENTS

Ashley Rentz, the Parent Liaison Coordinator at IHDD, facilitates a support group, Parents Supporting Parents, sponsored by the IHDD, that meets the second Tuesday of each month from 10:00-11:30 a.m. during the school year. She provides information on trainings, social events, respite care, and much more, via e-mail to over 85 families.

Ashley joined the IHDD team in September 2008 with an extensive background in supporting families of children with special health care needs. She has provided training, information, one-on-one support, and served on boards, committees and councils representing the interests of families of children with special needs in Georgia, Florida and Arkansas.

In addition,  Ashley was instumental in organizing the Clarke / Oconee / Oglethorpe / Madison Navigator Team to assist families in the Northeast Georgia region.

Speakers Bureau LogoIHDD EXPERTS ON DISABILITY SPEAKERS BUREAU

Have you wondered what life is really like living in an institution? How does it feel to move to the community?

These answers are available through the IHDD Speakers Bureau where three individuals who have disabilities and / or have lived in institutions and transitioned to the community tell their personal stories and answer your questions.

Gail Bottoms, Toney Al Duvall, and Marian Jackson are professional speakers who talk about the issues relevant to their lives and to the IHDD mission.

COMMUNITY GUIDE CERTIFICATE TRAINING PROGRAMS SCHEDULED FOR MACON AND NORTH ATLANTA METRO

Community Guide Certificate Training Progams are scheduled in Macon during July, and North Atlanta Metro Area during August.

Choose one location for your training, and apply early. Scholarships available for all individuals who are accepted into the program.
