Supported Employment: A Life of Choices
Donnie's Story, the first video in the Life of Choices Series tells the story of
a young boy named Donnie, who spent 13 years in a state hospital and is now an adult on his own with support from a caring community.
The video series and related book of stories were granted to IHDD by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities for "I Want A Job... A Project of National Significance." The grant was supervised by Wendy Parent, Ph.D., and
the video series was directed by Becky Brightwell, IHDD. The series concluded
in Summer 2004.
The PNS grant was one of several awarded to IHDD for supported employment that involved the interaction of job coaches and peer supporters with individuals with disabilities.
