My overarching research focus is in the interconnectiveness of the people in the global apparel supply chain. My central research inquiry in the Textile and Apparel discipline is: How can researchers and educators shatter the main stream illusion of the fashion industry to amplify all voices participating in the global apparel supply chain? I address this question from the perspective of the creators, producers, and consumers. I seek to explore this by both qualitative and quantitative methods.

I believe strongly in community outreach and service. During my time at the University of Georiga, I have been able to get involved at the department, college and univerity level. I am so lucky to be the faculty advisor for the student organization Fashion Design Student Association, who plan and execute two fashion shows a year. In addition, I love helping plan Fashion Week in the Spring with students. Also, working with the Office of Sustainability has trained and motivated me to infuse those values in all my endeavors. Finally, my greatest joy is to work with graduate and undergraduate students in both their research and career planning. By getting involved, I have the opportunity to work with diverse people and learn from others.

Current Research

My current research program focuses on the hidden voices in the global apparel supply chain. Specifically I am exploring children's agency in their dress; print and pattern creation acknowledging source inspiration and the intersection with cultural appropriation.
